Description: Join us for an immersive and transformative workshop designed for adults working with youth in out-of-school programs. In a rapidly changing world, it is crucial to equip ourselves with proactive processes that foster meaningful discussions and address the issues impacting our communities. This workshop aims to create awareness, provide resources, and inspire true allyship as we guide the youth through navigating complex conversations. Together, let's empower the next generation to navigate complex conversations with resilience, compassion, and understanding.
Workshop Highlights:
1. Proactive Processes for Harm Reduction:
Learn strategies to create less harmful discussions around pressing issues affecting the community. Explore ways to recognize and address the impact of these issues on the youth you work with.
2. Family Engagement and Communication:
Understand effective methods to alert families about ongoing conversations and the evolving needs of their children. Strengthen the bridge between after school programs and families, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
3. Approaching Critical Topics with Youth:
Receive guidance on how to approach sensitive subjects with the youth you work with. Learn effective communication techniques that encourage open dialogue, ensuring that their voices are heard and feelings are not suppressed.
A $150 stipend is available to participating educators who otherwise would not be paid for their time to attend. Educators must serve students in the Banks, Beaverton, Hillsboro, Forest Grove, and Portland Public school districts to qualify for a stipend.
