STEM Beyond School – $1.5 Million
PMSP and OSU are proud to partner with all of the STEM Hubs in Oregon and over 75 community organizations to develop engaging, youth driven, out of school STEM programming at thirty sites around the state. Education partners participate in a Community of Practice to share resources, connections, and project ideas.
Math in Real Life
Working with PSU, PCC, Worksystems Inc, and industry partners, 26 teachers from Beaverton, Hillsboro, Parkrose, Portland Public, and Forest Grove will gain first hand experience with applied math and then work together to develop and test highly relevant math learning opportunities for students grades 7-10. The project launched in Summer 2016 with teachers participating in industry externships.
Becoming a STE(A)M School Resources and Connections Toolkit
Our district partners (Hillsboro, Beaverton, Forest Grove, Portland Public, Banks) are expanding STE(A)M initiatives to reach more students, especially historically underserved. Currently, there is no existing set of resources and implementation guidelines aligned to our regional needs. The Toolkit will build from the experiences of our partner schools and include resources for teachers, administrators, and community partners.
STEM in Summer Migrant Programming
Embed rich STEM experiences tied to high growth high demand industry sectors into existing summer migrant programs in Beaverton and Hillsboro. The project launched summer 2016 with 200 students.
