The Portland Metro STEM Partnership is a regional collaboration of public and private organizations with a shared goal of transforming science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education for K-12 students.
Through the development and implementation of innovative STEM teaching and learning practices, all Oregon students will develop the necessary scientific literacy and technological knowledge they need to excel as citizens of our increasingly complex world.
We are a collective impact partnership designed to transform STEM teaching and learning in targeted K-12 schools by engaging a cross-section of local public and private organizations – businesses, educational institutions, school districts, community STEM education providers, and non-profits – that share the goals of improving STEM outcomes in our schools, providing STEM opportunities for our students in school and beyond, and building a STEM-rich workforce for Oregon’s future.
We place particular emphasis on schools and programs that serve traditionally underrepresented populations so that all students have pathways to achieving college and career readiness in STEM.
We employ an outcomes-based design that supports teachers as they develop and implement proficiency-based teaching and assessment practices that align with the outcomes of Oregon’s 40-40-20 education initiative.
We are working together to transform science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education in Oregon.
